Unai Emery on Ozil

Unai Emery on Ozil: The Arsenal manager has spoken about Arsene Wenger’s warning on the former German international.

Arsenal are enjoying life under Unai Emery this season. The club is on a 9-match winning run in all competitions so far, including six games in the Premier League.

Unai Emery’s side is also through to the next round of the Carabao Cup, and has won both of its games in the Europa League. The Gunners endured a tough start to the season, losing both of their opening games against Manchester City and Chelsea.

However, the club is now only two points behind both the clubs. Arsenal are fourth in the table with 18 points, ahead of city rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the league on goal difference.

After his departure, Arsene Wenger has spoken on his experiences at Arsenal. In a recent interview, he also talked about Mesut Ozil. He insisted that Mesut Ozil might lack the motivation to perform, following his international retirement. Unai Emery has now spoken on Wenger’s comments in the pre-match conference.

Unai Emery on Ozil:

Unai Emery addressed the media in the pre-match conference before the club takes on Leicester City on Monday night. He also spoke about Wenger’s comments on Mesut Ozil. The Spanish manager insisted that Ozil has a winning mentality and all his players are full of motivation.

“We need every player with a very big motivation every day in training and to continue improving and to continue helping us with his quality,” said Unai Emery.

“It’s the same with Mesut. The motivation is very important for us. We want to find this motivation every day from every player.”

There has been a lot of media coverage on Mesut Ozil’s controversial international retirement. The German midfielder cited racism as the main reason behind his decision to retire from the German national team. His decision was met with mixed opinions from fans and media alike.

Earlier, Arsene Wenger stated that the motivational factor marginally disappears when the player knows that he doesn’t have to prepare for a World Cup or European Championships.

“I did not love that he left Germany’s national team because a small piece of motivation disappears when you know that you do not have to be ready for a World Cup or a European Championship,” said Wenger.

What next?

Arsenal will return to Premier League football after the international break as they take on Leicester City on Monday night. The Gunners face a tight schedule next week, as they play three games within the space of seven days.
