What To Expect From The Side In Pro Kabaddi 2019
2018 saw the side go a rampant run towards the culminating rounds of the group stage matches to propel themselves right into third place in Zone B before eventually going out against finalists Gujarat Fortunegiants. And the side were relentless in the auctions for PKL 2019, retaining their foundation while adding some worldclass performers to the side.
The side’s strategy was clear ahead of the impending new season. With Nitish Kumar in defence, the side looked to strengthen their raiding department even further by using their Final Bid Match Card to rope back in Srikanth Jadhav and Rishank along with adding last year’s most expensive player, raider Monu Goyat for a massive payday for Rs.93 lakh.
While the raiding facet makes for daunting viewing, the side will still have to address the defensive side of their game with the side heavily relying on Nitish Kumar at the moment. They ended up adding the services of his brother Gurdeep and all-rounder Mohsen Maghsoudloujafar, two players they’ll be looking at to revel them in a fine brand of defensive kabaddi.
Key Players
Monu Goyat
He didn’t have the best of seasons in PKL 6, seeing him be released from his side despite being purchased for a colossal price of Rs.1.5 crore but UP Yoddha have gone ahead to repose faith in him. Part of an already exuberant raiding duo, Goyat will be looking to emulate the same rousing performances that made him such a stalwart.
Nitish Kumar
Picked up young players pool, Nitish Kumar ending up crossing the previous mark of 80 tackle points by Sandeep Nada as he became the first player to accumulate 100 tackle points in the league. The Defender Of The Season in PKL 6, the side will be looking to him to bring about semblance in a defensive unit which still has holes to cover.
Srikanth Jadhav
With 141 points out of the 357 his side managed to score last season, Srikanth Jadhav is going to play an extremely instrumental role for his side. The indomitable player is bound to learn under the tutelage of Monu Goyat and liaison alongside him to scour his side to points galore up the mat.
