Virat Kohli's beautiful message on Eid

Virat Kohli has been in the firing line during the entire Anil Kumble saga, as Kumble explicitly stated that his relationship with Kohli was getting strained and that it had reached a point of no-return. Ever since then Virat Kohli has been berated for essentially pushing out Anil Kumble and forcing his way over the functioning of the Indian side.

The Cricket Advisory Committee(CAC) which is responsible for selecting the new coach has been informed that Virat Kohli wouldn’t be allowed to take part in the discussions leading to the appointment of the new coach.

Vinod Rai, head of the Committee of Administrators has said that Anil Kumble did an ‘impeccable’ job as the India Coach. He was also firm in saying that Virat Kohli will have absolutely no say in the selection of the next coach, something that seems extremely bizarre, as Kumble had to step down due to differences with Kohli. So, it is only logical that Kohli is consulted before opting for a new coach.

“If two persons are thrown together for 24 by 7, there will be difference of professional opinion, so what’s there?” said Rai

His contract was for one year, there were perceptions, professional issues. He is more mature person, he decided that ‘Look, okay, fair enough.’ It is the captain who has to play on the field, isn’t it, ultimately?” he added.

Rai has confirmed that the BCCI will be looking to appoint the new coach before the Sri Lanka tour and that the appointed coach will continue until the 2019 World Cup.

The Indian team is currently touring the West Indies for a 5 match ODI series and a one-off T20.
