Glenn Maxwell picks his best player

Glenn Maxwell picks his best player: The Australian all-rounder rated the Indian captain as the best in the world recently.

Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell recently picked his best player in the world. While many fans expected it to be a former legendary cricketer, Maxwell surprised everyone when he named India captain Virat Kohli as his best cricketer.

While there are no apprehensions about Kohli’s potential or what he has achieved in the last decade, to see him surpassing former legendary players speaks highly about his craft.

In a show named Direct Hit, Maxwell laid accolades on Kohli regarding him being an amazing player and leader. The 30-year old all-rounder also spoke in the affirmative about Kohli’s fitness and technique.

“Virat Kohli is an amazing player, incredible captain and leader. He’s got an insatiable appetite of being the best. He’s been the best fielder, best batter, best fitness wise. He’s got an incredible desire to just dominate. If you’d look at his technique, it’s almost flawless,” Maxwell was quoted as saying.

Appreciating Kohli’s tendency to hit the middle of the bat so often, Maxwell further said, “He just hits the middle of the bat so much more often than everyone else. It looks like he has more time and just makes good decisions. Combine all this with an incredible eye and an incredible training ethic and he becomes the best in the world.”

Currently playing for Victoria in the Sheffield Shield, Maxwell has recently signed for Lancashire in the English country cricket. Alongside his limited-overs captain Aaron Finch, Maxwell will skip the next season of the Indian Premier League in a bid to stay afresh for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2016.

What followed for an 8-year-old was an instant adulation for both Ganguly and the sport. The optimist in him is waiting for the day when Punjab Kings will win their maiden Indian Premier League title. When not watching cricket, he is mostly found in a cinema hall watching a Punjabi movie.
