Shikhar Dhawan passes emotional statement: The Indian opening batsman took to social media to express gratitude towards fans.

India opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan getting ruled out of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 has come as a major blow for the team. While the team has been doing exceedingly well on the field, Dhawan’s injury might hurt them in the long run.

After observing the status of Dhawan’s injury for more than a week, the Indian team management made public the unfortunate development in the afternoon.

Shikhar Dhawan passes emotional statement

Dhawan, who had scored his 17th ODI century against Australia with a fractured thumb, took to his social media handled to express gratitude towards people who have been constantly praying for him to heal at the earliest.

“Just want to make a video to show gratitude towards your love and prayers which you all have been showering at me. Really appreciate it. Unfortunately, my thumb won’t be recovering in time,” Dhawan was quoted as saying in the video.

The 33-year old cricketer also put forward his urge to take part in the tournament but seemed to have made peace with the fact that it remains a distant reality now. “I really wanted to play the World Cup and represent my country. [But] Now it’s time for me to go back and recover well and be ready for the next selection,” Dhawan said.

Showing belief in the Indian team, Dhawan was confident that his team will life the trophy on July 14. Before concluding, he once again thanked his fans for supporting him and the team.

“Boys are doing a great job at the moment. I’m sure they will [even] win the World Cup. Keep praying for us. Keep supporting us. Your support and prayers are very important and dear to us. Thank you all [again] for all your love and support. Love you,” Dhawan concluded.
