Virat Kohli on retirement plan

Virat Kohli on retirement plan: The Indian captain made a strange comment during the post-match presentation ceremony.

The first ODI of Windies’ tour of India at Guwahati saw the Indian team winning the match comprehensively by 8 wickets. Talking about precision in the second innings, Indian captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma bullied the opposition with the bat in hand.

Irrespective of the opposition and the conditions, chasing a 323-run target isn’t as easy as the duo made it look tonight. With the opposition being short of answers, Sharma and Kohli made mockery of a 300+ first innings total.

Their 246-run stand put them in an elite category of being the only ODI pair to stitch five double-century partnerships in ODI cricket. During the post-match presentation ceremony, Kohli was wax lyrical on his deputy, saying that life isn’t with difficult with Sharma at the other end.

Given the way these two have been batting for India in the recent years, one can only hope for optimum results at the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

While speaking to Sanjay Manjrekar during the presentation ceremony tonight, Kohli was heard making a strange comment on the number of years left in his international career. Hearing it from someone who is at the peak of his career obviously came as astounding words.

On being asked about the source of such determination and consistency by Manjrekar, Kohli answered, “I have a few years left to enjoy the sport. Playing for the country is a matter of pride, so you can’t take any game lightly. And I like being honest to the sport you love. You’re playing for India, not everyone gets to do that, so that needs to be respected.”

Kohli’s heavy workload might be a reason for him to think of these lines at this stage of his career. Whatever it might be, it (such a statement) is highly likely to attract a lot of opinions and without a doubt, will leave numerous faces in a state of surprise.
