It was a sensational night for Indian cricket, as Dinesh Karthik played the innings of his life to give India a brilliant win in the Nidahas Trophy final.
DK was superb, as he changed the course of the match in just eight deliveries. 22 runs off Rubel gave India a fighting chance to snatch the win, and ultimately it was DK who cleared the fence on the last ball with the team still needing five runs to win.
Skipper Rohit Sharma was visibly excited and knew that DK had the ability to pull off an improbable victory. But Rohit never saw DK’s final blow, as the skipper had gone to take his pads and get ready for a possible Super Over.
“I had walked back in the dressing room to wear my pads,” Rohit said in the press conference after a thriller of a match between India and Bangladesh.
“Very happy to see Dinesh doing what he did, he didn’t get much game time until now, but he showed his power,” said Rohit in the post-match presentation.
“We held him back because of his finishing ability and his experience. And it paid off. I always had a lot of faith in our batting group and we were confident after keeping them to a par score,” he said.

“Brilliant game, brilliant for the crowd who have come out in numbers. The support we got here from this crowd was brilliant, it would be a bit different if we were playing Sri Lanka but I would like to thank them for their show tonight,” he said.
Virat Kohli, who was rested for the series, also sent in his congratulations to the team and especially DK, as the Indian skipper was overjoyed but the result and performance of the entire unit.
