In the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens, Virat Kohli scored his 18th Test century in the second innings that took the team out of all sorts of trouble.
Kohli who is known for his dry patch at Eden Gardens has successfully broken the hoodoo to achieve the milestone. This puts him a place ahead in the Test rankings.

Virat Kohli dethroned David Warner to attain the fifth spot leaving Warner just below him. As far as ratings are concerned, Kohli holds 817 whereas Warner holds 807.
The run-machine is already ranked first in both ODIs and T20Is. He is surely eyeing for something big in the Tests as well. He has got two more Tests to play against Sri Lanka.
The first match ended in a draw. The No.1 ranked Test side will take on the Lankan tail for the second match that is scheduled to be played on November 24 at VCA Stadium.
To add the fact that Kohli will have a prime role to play in the three-match Test series when India tour South Africa kicks off on January 5th onwards.
