With Virat Kohli plying his trade for India since the Champions Trophy consistently, the speculations were rife that read Kohli would feature just in one match and will take a ‘break’ from cricket for the home series against Sri Lanka.

The Indian chief selector MSK Prasad dismissed such speculations going around in the air and confirmed Virat Kohli’s availability for all the three Tests with the first one to be played on November 16, Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

MSK Prasad said that the team management is looking to rest the run-machine Kohli after the Test series against Sri Lanka. He also added that the rotational policy is available even for the captain’s slot.

“There is no confusion and Kohli is available for all the three Test matches against Sri Lanka. We will look at resting him after that.

He too deserves rest and the rotation policy will be applicable even for the skipper. The team has been picked for the first two matches as of now and the decision was made to name Rahane the deputy.

I do not see the reason to speculate whether Rahane has been named deputy because Kohli has made himself unavailable for the third Test,” MSK Prasad told Cricket Next.

But acting BCCI president CK Khanna said that the decision would be taken at the right time by the respective people.

“It is too early to say anything. The decision will be made by the selectors led by MSK Prasad and the acting secretary,” he told.
