Virgil Van Dijk: Liverpool ridiculously star mocks Man Utd ahead of Manchester Derby

Virgil Van Dijk has mocked Manchester United as they prepare to take on Manchester City in the high voltage derby on Wednesday.

Manchester United have lost six games out of the last eight for the first time since 1981. The ship has sailed a long ago for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who is battling out with the players to play for the badge instead of contract renewals which is the major reason for their downfall in recent weeks.

The Red Devils are currently sitting sixth in the Premier League table with 64 points, battling out for a spot in the top four. They are entering the crucial last phase of the season preparing to take on Manchester City and Chelsea within five days time. On the other hand, Pep Guardiola’s side have played one game lesser than Liverpool, sitting second and two points behind in the league table.

Manchester City are more likely to drop points in this fixture, but the recent form suggests otherwise. This is surely a worrying sign for Liverpool fans who are hoping for their side to cross the line for the first time in twenty-nine years. The Reds are heavily reliant on the opponents of the Citizens and are on the knees for United to do a favour on Wednesday night.

This has been the most popped question for Liverpool players and Jurgen Klopp about Manchester City derby. Virgil Van Dijk was asked the same and the Dutch International insisted that the Red Devils will have to do themselves a favour in order to qualify for the Champions League by picking points against Manchester City.

“They need to do themselves a favour,” Van Dijk said when asked if United could help out Liverpool.

“Everton is not easy to beat at home, but 4-0 is a big result. We have no influence on that, but they are still playing for Champions League football and they need to get a result.”

Despite not having any influence on Manchester City’s games, Van Dijk reiterated that Liverpool will have to win the remaining games to stand a chance against the Citizens for the league title.

“We have three games left and we are going to try and win all of them. It’s going to be very hard, but that’s what we’re looking to do. We did our job (at Cardiff). We had to stay patient, but it was a very mature performance and it was good to get the three points.

“Our next challenge is going to be on Friday, so we’ll see.” said Van Dijk.

Here’s how Twitter reacted..
