Watch: Andres Iniesta turns back time with a one touch volley that leads to a goal in Vissel Kobe’s 6-1 demolition of Sagan Tosu.

Andres Iniesta may not be playing football in the European Top flight but that hasn’t stopped him from churning out gems when he desires. The Spanish midfielder currently play’s for J-League side, Vissel Kobe and turned it up in Fernando Torres’ farewell match.

The match between Vissel Kobe and Sagan Tosu was supposed to be Torres’ swansong. It was Iniesta though, who made the match his own. Kobe annihilated Tosu 6-1 with the midfielder scoring one through a penalty. However, it was minutes later that he created a gem of a moment that is easily the highlight of the match.

Near the half-line, the former Barcelona star, delivered a sensational pass by way of a long volley. The ball went past Sagan’s defence and striker Junya Tanaka found the back of the net to give Vissel Kobe their 3rd goal of the match. Iniesta then had to leave the field just before half-time owing to a hamstring injury.

Before the match, Iniesta penned down an emotional letter to compatriot Fernando Torres’ ahead of the striker’s farewell. The two were also joined by the likes of David Villa, Thomas Vermaelen and Sergi Samper on the field.

Iniesta made a name for himself where he played all his career. He is the most decorated Spanish footballer of all times with 35 trophies. Iniesta was a part of Barcelona’s historic sides that won the treble in 2009 and 2015. He left the club in 2018 after serving as captain for 3 seasons.
