Crowd chants for MS Dhoni after Rishabh Pant falters

Crowd chants for MS Dhoni after Rishabh Pant falters: The Indian wicket-keeper was severely criticized tonight.

During the fourth ODI of the ongoing Australia’s tour of India at Mohali, India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant was seen having a difficult time behind the wickets. Pant, who had replaced veteran wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the team, faltered on several occasions to invite severe criticism.

It all majorly happened during the second half of the Australian innings. On the penultimate delivery of the 39th over, Australia middle-over batsman Peter Handscomb had stepped out to chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav. Handscomb completely got deceived as the bowler bowled a short delivery.

The ball got deflected after it hit the batsman’s pads. As a result, the 21-year old wicket-keeper failed to collect the rolling ball for he was following the original line of the delivery. While it was a difficult chance, you expect them to be taken at this level.

Crowd chants “Dhoni Dhoni”

Pant’s poor night continued as he missed another stumping chance down the leg side in the 44th over. With the same being a wide delivery, Pant failed to collect the ball cleanly. With Australia batsman Ashton Turner way outside the crease, Pant seemed to be feeling the pressure of a crunch situation in international cricket.

It was at this point in time that the crowd in Mohali had started to chant “Dhoni Dhoni” in a bid to suggest that the veteran cricketer is being missed.

On the third delivery of the same over, Pant’s unsuccessful attempt of back-flicking a ball saw the Australian batsmen running an extra run. With India captain Virat Kohli also expressing his disappointment on the same, it spoke highly about Pant continually making mistakes in the middle.

This was another instance when the crowd started to chant “Dhoni Dhoni”, making things worse for Pant. Watch the full video below:
