Karan Johar opens up on Rahul-Pandya

Karan Johar opens up on Rahul-Pandya: The renowned celebrity was apologetic for the consequences of his talk show on the cricketers.

Renowned director, producer and anchor Karan Johar finally opened up on the infamous episode of his talk show ‘Koffee With Karan’. The episode involving India opening batsman Lokesh Rahul and all-rounder Hardik Pandya gained limelight for all the wrong reasons as it ended up being removed from online streaming platform Hotstar.

The cricketer-duo, who were the first from the cricketing fraternity to be invited on the show, have been suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India following their comments which were termed as misogynist and inappropriate.

In an interview with ET Now, Johar admitted that he feels ‘responsible’ for it was his platform. “I have to say that I feel very responsible because it was my show, it was my platform. I invited them as guests and so the ramifications and repercussion of the show are my responsibility,” Johar was quoted as saying.

Johar disclosed that he has had sleepless nights post all that had happened. “I have had so many so many sleepless nights, wondering about how I can undo this damage, who is gonna listen to me. It’s now gone into a zone which is beyond my control,” Johar said.

Not wanting to defend himself, Johar added that his role as a host has no control on the answers which come his way. “I have to say and I don’t defend myself when I say this. I have to say that the questions that I asked the two boys are the questions I ask everyone including women. Deepika [Padukone] and Alia [Bhatt] were on the show, I asked them those questions. I have no control about the answers that come my way,” he added.

Johar also pointed out the fact that his show is entirely run by women (16-17 girls). He mentioned that the girls found Pandya mad, crazy, wild and funny but none of them had any issue whatsoever with the answers being given on the show. Apologizing for all that happened on his platform, Johar said that the boys have paid the price for it already.

“I am just saying is that I think that perhaps things were said that may have crossed boundaries and I apologise because it was my platform from where it happened. I feel the boys have faced the price for it already,” Johar concluded.
