KL Rahul and Manish Pandey communicate in Kannada: The Karnataka boys were heard talking in their native language in the third ODI.

During the third ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand in Mount Mauganui, India wicket-keeper batsman Lokesh Rahul and batsman Manish Pandey were heard communicating in Kannada while running between the wickets.

Rahul was joined by Pandey in the 31st over when Shreyas Iyer (62) was dismissed by New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham. Rahul and Pandey stitched a 107-run partnership for the fifth wicket which played a vital role in India scoring 296/7 in 50 overs.

While Pandey ended up scoring 42 (48) including two fours, Rahul registered his fourth ODI century, 112 (113), with the help of nine fours and two sixes.

A video of the pair running between the wickets is surfacing on social media platform Twitter. Rahul and Pandey are heard speaking in Kannada on the stump mic.

One can clearly hear them speaking the words “Bartheera” (will you come), Odi Odi Ba” (come running), “Beda Beda” (no no) and “Ba Ba” (come).

While Pandey played his first ODI of the series, Rahul has been a regular in all the white-ball format matches of this tour. Rahul’s stellar form has seen him scoring 428 runs in eight matches across formats at an average of 71.33 and a strike rate of 125.88 including one century and three half-centuries.

With both the players not part of the Test squad, they will now return to India and might be seen playing for Karnataka if they qualify for the quarter-final of the ongoing Ranji Trophy.
