Lionel Messi

Having achieved almost everything in his illustrious career, there are very few things in the sport that have eluded Messi; scoring against the great Buffon being one of them. But the slight blot was brushed away from Messi today, as he produced a wonderful one-two with Suarez to slot one past Buffon and give Barcelona a much needed lead in their first Champions League fixture this year.

Messi has now scored in his last 8 Champions League group stage games and would be hoping to add to his tally tonight, in order to let Barcelona stamp their authority in a tricky group.

With Neymar departing and their top targets not making it to the club, Barcelona will have to romp up the wins early in the season to avoid any kind of crisis. With so much being written and said about the President and the board, the management would be happy that the on field performances have started to take centre stage.

Barcelona would be hoping to keep Dybala and co. quiet in the second half in order to register their first win in the Champions League this season.
