Lionel Messi to Serie A

Lionel Messi to Serie A: The Barcelona star could make a shock move to Italian top flight, according to FIFA agent Alessio Sundas.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview with Gazzetta dello Sport last week has fuelled the Messi-Ronaldo debate, after it had relatively cooled down after the Portuguese forward’s move to Juventus.

Ronaldo stated that he has played in four countries, and further challenged Lionel Messi to come to Italy.

Lionel Messi has said earlier about his future at Barcelona, insisting that he is happy at the club, and has not thought about his move away from the Catalan side.

“When the moment comes, I will decide. I want to finish the contract I have and then we will see if I continue or not. It doesn’t worry me right now. [But] the club can be calm [when I am gone] if they keep bringing players through the academy and making good signings,” Messi said in September.

The Argentine star also talked about Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus in an interview with Catalunya Radio.

Italian media outlet Calciomercato now reports that a move for Lionel Messi to Italy is currently being prepared, and FIFA agent Alessio Sundas is at the centre of it all.

Lionel Messi to Serie A:

In an interview with Calciomercato, FIFA agent Alessio Sundas insisted that he is preparing a move for Lionel Messi to Italy.

He revealed that he contacted Barcelona’s general manager Pep Segura regarding a transfer for Lionel Messi last year, but that the answer was a straight ‘no.’

However, this time, Barcelona have not outrightly rejected the proposition.

“In these days I had an exchange of emails with Pep Segura, the general manager of Barcelona, and also with Leo’s father who takes care of his interests,” Sundas said.

“Their reply was not a big “no” like it happened in the past. That makes me suppose that there are some feeble chances to see Messi playing in Italy,” he stated.

Sundas also revealed that his initial plan was to propose Messi’s move to Napoli, but the side can’t afford his transfer fee.

“Initially, my idea was to propose the deal to Napoli because I think that Messi is the only one able to approach and, in some way, revive the myth of Maradona.

It would be a stimulating challenge. However, this operation with Napoli is not easy at all,” Sundas said.

He further said that Inter Milan is the only ‘reliable’ club in terms of finances and technicalities of the move.

“Not all the clubs can afford a player like Leo and with AC Milan struggling with the UEFA sanctions, I believe that Inter remain the only reliable club, both in economic and technical terms. Bringing Messi to Inter would mean to place the unique market transfer capable of equalizing the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus.”
