WATCH: Mayank Agarwal aces Natraj Shot in Hamilton warm-up match

Mayank Agarwal aces Natraj Shot: The Indian opening batsman top-scored for his team in the second innings.

During the second day of the first warm-up match of the ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand in Hamilton, India opening batsman Mayank Agarwal emulated legendary captain Kapil Dev’s ‘Natraj Shot’ with success.

It all happened on the first delivery of the sixth over when Agarwal hit a delivery from Scott Kuggeleijn on the leg-side for an impressive six. While Agarwal didn’t completely lift his front leg, he came quite close to how Dev used to play the shot.

Agarwal followed the shot with two more boundaries on the following deliveries to further contribute to India’s quickfire start in the last half hour of the second day. Having scored 59/0 in seven overs at Stumps yesterday, India went on to score 252/4 in 48 overs to register a comprehensive performance.

Coming on the back of individual scores of 8, 32, 29, 37, 24, 0, 0, 32, 3, 1 and 1 on this tour across formats, Agarwal played a much-needed confident innings today as he top-scored for India with 81 (99) with the help of 10 fours and three sixes before retiring out.

Much like Agarwal, another India player who needed runs up his sleeve was wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant. Having not played a single match on the tour and only scored 7 (10) in the first innings, Pant played well for his 70 (65) after being promoted to bat at No. 4 today.
