During the second day of the first Test of the ongoing Bangladesh’s tour of India in Indore, India opening batsman Mayank Agarwal was left bewildered when umpire Marais Erasmus ruled him out off Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
It all happened on the fourth delivery of the 47th over when Agarwal’s attempt to force a sweep off Miraz saw him getting into an atypical position. With the ball hitting Agarwal’s pad, Erasmus considered it to be hitting the stumps and ruled the decision in the bowler’s favour.
Agarwal, who was surprised by the decision, decided to review the same after consulting vice-captain and non-striker Ajinkya Rahane. Replays confirmed that the ball would have gone on to miss the stumps and hence the umpire had to overturn his decision.
Agarwal, who resumed his innings from 37* yesterday, went on to score his third Test century in only his 12th Test innings. The right-hand batsman has been in phenomenal form since his test debut against Australia in Melbourne last year.
With India losing Cheteshwar Pujara (54) and captain Virat Kohli (0) in the first hour today, Agarwal took the onus on him and is steering India towards a match-winning total. Agarwal and Rahane are currently part of a stellar partnership. It is worth mentioning that the former has crossed the 150-run mark on a personal front.

Another fine innings from Mayank Agarwal. Got to love his hunger. Bangladesh were impressive but India have still taken the game further away.
