WATCH : Messi and Suarez combine to score a wonderful goal against Valencia

It is tough enough to stop either of Luis Suarez or Lionel Messi alone, but it gets nigh on impossible to control the pair of them when they are on song.

That being said, Valencia stuck to their task and did a manful job of restricting Barcelona’s number nine and ten from wrecking havoc on their defense.

Ultimately though, Messi jinked and maneuvered his way into a position, before dinking a perfect ball which Luis Suarez converted, to give Barcelona their lead.

Messi went past three and managed to get some height on his cross, which Luis Suarez gratefully accepted and scored from close range.

It was another example of the difference that these two give their side, as Messi and Suarez are almost carrying Barcelona over the last few weeks. Messi has rediscovered some of his best form, as the magical Argentine has been at times unplayable this season.

Despite starting off slowly, Luis Suarez has also managed to come back to his best, as the great striker looks to have found his radar at the perfect time for Barcelona. The Uruguayan has outscored both Messi and Ronaldo in 2018, as Suarez looks to finish the season with a big flourish.

There has been a lot of talk of Barcelona looking to bring in Antoine Griezmann, which would remove Luis Suarez from the starting position.

The Catalan club are looking to build towards the future, which is why a move for the Frenchman make sense, as he would then replace the ageing Suarez at the club. Clearly Suarez has got wind of this, which is why he has stepped up his performances over the last few weeks for Barcelona.

While it is true that Barca need to plan for the future, getting rid of someone as prolific as Suarez may not be the right decision.

Barcelona’s slender 1-0 lead in the first leg of the semi-final will be precious when they travel to Valencia in a few weeks time. With Real Madrid already knocked out of the Copa Del Ray, Barcelona must feel that they have a great chance to win the trophy this season.
