During the fourth T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand in Wellington, New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner put on display a flying fielding effort to dismiss India captain Virat Kohli.
It all happened on the third delivery of the fifth over when Kohli was deceived by extra bounce on a delivery from New Zealand fast bowler Hamish Bennett. Having lobbed the ball off his leading edge, Kohli saw Santner flying to his right to grab an airborne catch with both hands.
Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the second over, Kohli ended up scoring 11 (9) with the help of two fours. While it was Bennett’s first wicket, it was Santner’s second catch of the night as he also grabbed another outstanding catch to dismiss India opening batsman Sanju Samson (8).
Continuing his magic on the field, the 27-year old player grabbed another catch at deep mid-wicket after India wicket-keeper batsman Lokesh Rahul (39) hit an Ish Sodhi delivery straight to him.
After New Zealand captain Tim Southee won the toss and invited India in to bat, the visitors have lost half their side in the 11th over. All-rounder Shivam Dube’s (12) attempt of playing a slog off Ish Sodhi saw him becoming the latest Indian batsman to get out.
Having scored at a run rate in vicinity of 8 till now, India would be hoping Manish Pandey and Washington Sundar to make the best out of their opportunities.
