The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
Rishabh pant is the brave man in here. How many times do you remember seeing a batsmen hitting a six facing just his second ball?
Not enough?
How about hitting a six on his second ball on debut?
Not enough?
All this when you are just 20 years of age and the last wicket to fall was of your captain?
Amazing, isn’t it? This is exactly what happened today. Virat Kohli fell to Adil Rashid missing his century by just 3 runs. This was just the second time Virat was dismissed in the nineties.
Rishabh pant was the next man in. Facing his first ball he creamed the drive through cover only to find the fielder.
The second ball, he reads the googly, steps out and lofts the ball over the bowlers head for a maximum.
Rishabh pant is known to take the attack to the opposition. We have all seen him do it on several occasions in first-class cricket and IPL. But doing it in test cricket on your debut, facing just your second ball takes quite a bit of courage. Nonetheless, it was quite unexpected and quite a statement to make.
Rishabh pant’s selection in the national squad came on the back of his pretty good performances against England lions where he was part of India A squad.
It is worth noting that Dinesh Karthik was the first choice keeper batsmen for this series. But since his performances were below expectations pant today was handed his debut cap.
How pant performs in this test remains to be seen. The starting nonetheless was one to remember for a long time.
