During the second day of the second Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Perth, India captain Virat Kohli started his innings by hitting four boundaries. In a session of play where the Australian quick bowlers dominated the proceedings, Kohli’s starting his innings in such a manner was relieving for India.
Coming in to bat in the sixth over after the Indian openers were sent back cheaply, Kohli once again came into the middle with his team in a spot of bother. However, it didn’t deter him to play his shots.
On the second ball which Kohli faced, he hit an exquisite on drive off Josh Hazlewood whihc went for a boundary. While the shot was high on the aesthetic appeal, it also spoke highly about the Indian captain’s intent on a difficult wicket.
While Kohli batted for a very few balls in the next three overs, he then faced a full over from Hazlewood. Kohli hit three fours in the over to collect 13 runs from the over.
He started with clipping an off-stump delivery wide of mid-on to score the first four of the over. The 30-year old cricketer just pushed the following fuller delivery as it went past the mid-off fielder for another four.
Having defended the third ball of the over, Kohli whipped another fuller delivery towards the mid-wicket region for another boundary. Watch the full video below:

I often used to say that on overseas tours, especially early on, that Tendulkar was India’s 10-2 man. Well, it might be Kohli now but the line is valid!
