During the third ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand in Mount Maunganui, India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was successful in foxing New Zealand opening batsman Martin Guptill who became the first hosts’ batsman to get out.
It all happened on the third delivery of the 17th over when Chahal went past Guptill’s defense by completely foxing him. In what was an ideal delivery for a leg-spinner, it turned away from the right-hand batsman to beat him on the outside and eventually hit the stumps.
Opening the batting with Henry Nicholls, Guptill provided New Zealand with a quickfire start on the back of his 37th ODI half-century. Having scored 66 (46) with the help of six fours and four sixes in a 106-run opening partnership while chasing a 297-run target, Guptill has laid the foundation for his team.
It is worth mentioning that Chahal is only Indian bowler to have picked a wicket today. Chahal and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja played a vital role in stopping the run flow after the Indian fast bowler went for plenty.
After New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and invited India in to bat, the visitors scored 296/7 in 50 overs on the back of wicket-keeper batsman Lokesh Rahul scoring his fourth ODI century, 112 (113), including nine fours and two sixes.
With bowling figures of 10-1-64-4, New Zealand pacer Hamish Bennett was the pick of their bowlers.

The biggest positive of Yuzi Chahal is that he is mentally tough, can go through any situation but he will back soon unlike any other wrist spinners available in India and this is the best quality needed while you are an attacking spinner. #YuziChahal
