Why David De Gea did not play in Man Utd pre-season game against Leeds United?

David De Gea has been kept out of this pre-season game because of illness.

David De Gea was not included in the squad for the pre-season friendly against their neighbours Leeds United in Perth, Australia. Along with Romelu Lukaku, the Spaniard not getting included in the game comes as headline news to the Red Devil faithful.

David De Gea’s illness and Romelu Lukaku’s slight knock have kept them out of this game.

When asked about De Gea’s exclusion, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “David did not feel right because of illness and he should be with us for the Inter Milan game.”

Simon Stones, who works for BBC, asked the Red Devils media about Romelu Lukaku’s exclusion. He was told that the Belgian had picked up a knock which has kept him out for this game.

New signings Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are starting through the defensive and attacking flanks of the right-hand-side. Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly, who were not part of the side last game, have installed their name in the starting eleven. Sergio Romero shields the goal, while the midfield three of Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, and Mason Greenwood are starting this match, along with Marcos Rojo, Marcus Rashford, and Juan Mata.

The absentees David De Gea and Romelu Lukaku have totally different futures ahead of themselves. The former is ready to sign a new long-term contract, whereas Lukaku is on top of Antonio Conte’s wishlist at Inter Milan and had an opening bid turned down by the Red Devils.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to take any loss as Manchester United eye £75 million, which is the amount which they paid to Everton two years ago.
