Marko Arnautovic to United: Arnautovic’s brother and agent, Danijel Arnautovic has confirmed that the player could leave West Ham in January.

Manchester United are going through a rough patch at the moment. Ever since the beginning of the 2018/19 season, things have gone downhill at the club, as Jose Mourinho’s side finds itself at 8th position in the league, behind Bournemouth and Watford.

Last weekend, Manchester United suffered a 3-1 defeat in season’s first Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium, which has pushed them further away from their neighbours.

Pep Guardiola’s side is a massive 12 points ahead of United, with almost 1/3rd of the Premier League matches already played.

Jose Mourinho faces a daunting task in the transfer window in January, where Manchester United will be looking to fill the voids in various positions. After it was reported that United are preparing to sell Bailly and Rojo for a defensive signing, Marko Arnautovic’s agent has confirmed that the player could move in January.

Marko Arnautovic to United:

Manchester United was linked with a move for Arnautovic in the summer transfer window, but no deal was put on the table. However, Arnautovic’s brother, who is also his agent, has stated that the time has come for the Austrian forward to make the next big move of his career.

“[A January exit] is possible,” Danijel Arnautovic confirmed. “It was already very, very close this last summer. He’s already playing in the Premier League and that’s where the best players are. But for a player like Marko this cannot be the end.”

The agent stressed that Arnautovic needs to play for a top-league side, and that his quality doesn’t justify him playing for a relegation-threatened club.

“He’s a big part of West Ham’s team but I think it’s possible to tease out more of him. For that to happen, he has to play for a top team. Marko is ready for the next step. A player like him should not play against relegation. He should play for the international spots.

“Marko is really enjoying playing for West Ham. He loves that club and the fans. But there is still that feeling, that this cannot be the end. And everybody should understand that.”

What next?

Manchester United, for sure, have received a massive boost after the agent’s confirmation. Mourinho has also worked with Arnautovic during his time at Inter Milan, which makes him a preferable option for the January transfer window.

The goals have dried up for Manchester United, as it is currently the only club in the Premier League top-10 to have a negative goal difference. (-1)
