With three wins from three matches, Western Storm have been a tutelage for the rest of the five sides partaking in the Super League. The side have perfectly encapsulated everything needed to be a successful T20 side, a unit which has imbued in wit both worldclass batswomen and bowlers who have in unison taken the team to the annuls of the league standings.
Sitting pretty in first place, Western Storm know that another win would help seal their berth for a place in the next round. They come into this encounter after having shown the much needed composure needed to become champions, persevering by three wickets in their pursuit of Southern Vipers’ 142. It was their second successful run chase on the bounce, one followed up by a 6 wicket win over Yorkshire Diamonds against whom they flourished in their chase of 138.
Elsewhere, Loughborough Lightning enter today’s second encounter after having finally recorded their first win of the marquee league. It was a comprehensive result, one which saw them trounce Lancashire Lightning by 9 wickets in one of the most clinical showings of the league as they chased down the 122 run target set infront of them with 6.4 overs to spare.
It’s a result the side will be looking to build on as they look to win two straight matches for the first time in this edition of the league and disrupt what has been a flawless campaign for Western Storm till now. Given the form and recent showings the two sides have regaled us in, expect today’s encounter to be an edge of the seat thriller with the winner being decided by the barest of margins.
Pitch Conditions And Toss
This is a pitch which has always relatively favoured the batters and with the ground team working to dole out the best batting conditions, expect today’s surface to revel us in a runs galore encounter. The new ball will misbehave and deviate for the pacers but the pitch will be quick to settle into a fine batting surface.
With both sides having tasted success while chasing recently, expect the side winning the toss opting to field first here.

Dream 11 Picks
Wicket-Keepers
With the both the sides having wicket-keepers who come out and open the innings for their side, our pick of Amy Jones was done solely on the form she’s in currently. While she failed the last time around, her displays with the bat in the side’s opening fixtures were as exemplary as they get, helping imbed some kind of semblance in an otherwise languishing Loughborough batting line-up.
Batswomen
A massive reason for Western Storm’s incredible run of results has been their top-order, one filled with names who come bearing with them incredible application, technique and guile. They all stood up in unison to contribute to their side’s successful run chase of 142 the last time around, seeing us pick up all of their bats till number 4.
With 30 in the last match, Smriti Mandhana comes in for us along with her captain Heather Knight whose 38 saw her become the side’s leading run getter with 129 runs. Along with her contribution of a wicket with the ball as well, she’s an excellent pick for this match, someone who has never left her side when Western Strom are featuring.
Following her up is Fran Wilson whose boundary laden innings of 40 in 30 balls saw her put on a match winning stand of 58 runs for the third wicket along with Sophie Luff. We have gone in with Chamari Atapattu from the other side after she scored 40 in the last match as her side went onto win by 9 wickets along with getting an over as well.
All-Rounders
Her 1 wicket and unbeaten innings of 54 in 39 balls with the bat see opener Hayley Mathews enter the fray our side without any deliberations. She endured a horrid time in India in the women’s IPL but ever since then has done extremely well to show why she’s regarded as one of the most exceptional T20 players in the fraternity.
Her captain and number 4 bat Georgie Elwiss comes in as well. While Deepti Sharma was someone who we considered as well owing to her brand of spin, her hefty price tag of 9.5 credits saw us opt out of her for this encounter.
Bowling Order
Having finally come to the side after missing the opening match, Anya Shrubsole ended up picking up a wicket for her side in the previous encounter. We expect her to go on and add to that tally today given her restrictive line and length and ability to keep pitching the ball in the right areas on a persistent basis.
Her side’s highest wicket taker, adding two wickets to her kitty in the last match, Claire Nicholas comes in as well while from Loughborough Lightning we have opted for two names who are indispensible for their side. Despite using 8 bowlers in the previous match, both Sarah Glenn and Kirstie Gordon were given their full overs, something which reaffirmed their role in the side.
While Gordon picked up two in the last match, Glenn’s one saw her figure go to 5 wickets in 3 matches, making both of them players we had to opt for.
Captain And Vice-Captain
Knight is being made our side’s captain while Matthews is selected as the vice-captain.
