Fans have wished to see WWE and AEW working together ever since the latter came into existence. And for matters like that, there’s nobody as suitable as Chris Jericho. “The Demo God” has a reputation for being extremely professional when it comes to conducting business. In fact, Chris Jericho once approached Triple H with a WWE AEW collaboration idea. Sadly, the idea was rejected by Vince McMahon for a very silly reason.
Other than what he does in the ring, Jericho is also popular for his ventures outside the squared circle. One of them is his “Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Cruise” where fans enjoy pro wrestling on a cruise.
Chris Jericho, who was in AEW, wanted to have WWE NXT on his cruise ship
During the recent episode of his “Talk Is Jericho” podcast, the AEW locker room leader recalled approaching Triple H with a collab idea. Considering the way things turned out, the incident might have transpired sometime between 2019 and 2021.
Speaking on the show, The Demo God claimed he once had a meeting with HHH to have NXT on his cruise. He remembered everyone thought he was crazy. Chris Jericho, despite being in AEW, had a group call with seven people from WWE regarding a collab.
Well, the idea wasn’t to do an exact collaboration, but it was still declined by Vince McMahon. According to Chris Jericho, the former WWE CEO refused because he didn’t like doing cruises.
Somewhere in the news, Mr. McMahon had heard about people dying on a cruise because of food poisoning. So, when Chris Jericho pitched the idea, he ended up rejecting it.
“I approached Hunter [Triple H] … I had a meeting with him about having NXT on my cruise… They [WWE] finally called… to tell me that they were not interested… The reason I found out was that Vince [McMahon] doesn’t like doing cruises… Because he has just seen the news… And he was convinced that on every cruise, people like die of food poisoning…,” Jericho said.
The Demo God is rumored to attend the meeting where AEW and CM Punk discussed the latter’s return
Chris Jericho and CM Punk are not on good terms, a fact that has been proved in the last six to eight months. When the latter was suspended last year, the former called him cancer for AEW. Jericho made it clear that he doesn’t want to see Punk back.
Earlier this month, The Straight Edge Superstar fired back by calling The Demo God a liar and a stooge. He also took shots at names like Dave Meltzer, Tony Khan, and Jon Moxley. However, it seems both parties are willing to make amends. Reportedly, AEW and Punk will soon have a meeting that will also involve people like FTR and Jericho.

Nevertheless, be it a WWE AEW collab or working with someone like CM Punk, Chris Jericho is always open to talk. However, sad for fans, Vince McMahon didn’t agree to what could have been a big step between both companies.
