Kurt Angle reveals he convinced Brock Lesnar to sell for AJ Styles in their match at Survivor Series 2017. The two had an amazing outing at the event.
Since 2017, the WWE have seen RAW and SmackDown’s Champions face each other in the name of brand superiority. The event that would start the trend saw Brock Lesnar go head to head with AJ Styles. On paper this was a match you had to see live. However, by then, Lesnar had become notorious for wrestling very short fights where he barely sold anything.

This concerned the fans, many who believed that Styles would lose his credibility if he were to be squashed. By the end of the match though, the Phenomenal One came out looking like an even bigger star. Lesnar won the match but he left the ring a damaged man; a sight the fans hadn’t seen in ages.
Kurt Angle reveals he convinced Brock Lesnar to sell for AJ Styles in their match at Survivor Series 2017
While speaking on ‘The Kurt Angle Show’, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle remembered Lesnar inquiring about Styles ahead of their match. Angle told Lesnar that Styles was good and suggested to him that selling for him would result in a brilliant match.
“I remember a match between him and AJ Styles a couple of years ago,” Angle recalled. “I told Brock, he said, ‘What about this AJ kid? Is he any good? I said he is really good. I said, ‘If you sell for him, Brock, you will have a 5-star match’. Brock sold for him and it was incredible.”
The match was indeed incredible. Despite boasting a stacked survivor tag team match, the match that everyone remembers is this one. If Styles had any doubters, those 15 minutes were enough to change their minds; and it also reinforced the belief that Lesnar is one of the best in the world at what he does, if he wants to.
