Kevin Owens names wrestler who almost made him want to quit wrestling because of how good he was inside the squared circle.

Kevin Owens is one of the most popular name in wrestling today. He has possibly had the most entertaining run as the Universal Champion. With a face turn and the stunner in his arsenal, his popularity has reached even greater heights.

However, in a recent tweet, Owens has revealed that at one point in his career he told Sami Zayn that he wanted to quit wrestling after watching Brian Kendrick wrestle because he didn’t think he would ever wrestle as good as him.

Ring of Honour star, Cheeseburger uploaded a question on Twitter asking:

“Who was the first ‘name’ you wrestler that was so good you realized how little you truly know, and helped you step your game up?”

Several wrestlers took the time to answer the question including Owens, who wrote:

“There’s a lot of them but the most memorable one to me isn’t even someone I wrestled. Back in 2005, I watched @mrbriankendrick’s match at an ROH show I was also on and was so blown away by how good he was that I’m pretty sure I told @SamiZayn I was going to quit wrestling!”

He followed his answer with another tweet adding a few more names into the list of wrestlers who made him rethink his entire existence.

“The first one was @facdaniels in 2004,” Owens wrote. “Poor Chris! Then, throughout the years, @StevenCorino, @findevan, @supercima1115, @ringfox1, @LondonFU and @OfficialPWG’s Super Dragon are all guys that made me rethink my entire existence after I had the chance to wrestle them.”

Owens is currently tangled in a storyline with Seth Rollins. He faced Buddy Murphy at the Kick Off show to Extreme Rules and won. With Rollins’ storyline wrapped up with Rey Mysterio, it is likely that the two will now go head to head.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
