WWE announce first two entries for the Men’s Royal Rumble 2021 match. The Pay Per View will take place this Sunday.
The pandemic era has forced the WWE to abandon their tried and tested methods and think out of the box. Some have been awkward and some absolutely brilliant. The Royal Rumble is another that has seen several changes in its build when compared to other years.

A hotbed for surprises and instant gratification for the live audience, the WWE have instead chosen to show their cards beforehand in order to entice the fans to watch the event. WWE announce first two entries for Royal Rumble 2021 match
During the WWE Backstage Royal Rumble special, they revealed the first two entries in the men’s match. The number one spot will be taken by Randy Orton and the man to follow him will be Edge!
BREAKING NEWS:
As announced on #WWEBackstage, the #1 entrant in the 2021 Men’s #RoyalRumble will be @RandyOrton and the #2 entrant will be @WWE Hall of Famer @EdgeRatedR! 🔥🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/sfLH3OtonW— WWE on FOX (@WWEonFOX) January 31, 2021
Both the Viper and the Rated-R Superstar have a long history with each. The friends turned foes feuded with each other for a large portion of early 2020 before Edge suffered an injury. They will now have one other chance to have a go at each other. It’s even possible that one or both of them could make it to the final four and even win the whole thing.
This is unusual for the WWE to announce both the first and second participants ahead of time. It is often only one spot and that is also used as a plot device like when R-Truth was number 30 in 2019 only for Nia Jax to replace him or in 2016 when Roman Reigns was number 1 and had to defend his WWE title in it.
The last time the WWE had the first and second announced beforehand was when Stone Cold and Vince McMahon started the Rumble and even that was announced through a storyline in the show; Not on some backstage show one day before the event.
