King of the Ring

WWE hints at King of the Ring return. The last WWE King of the Ring tournament took place back in 2019 with Baron Corbin emerging as the winner.

There was once a time when the King of the Ring was considered to be one of the big five pay per views in the WWE. The other four were Wrestlemania, Survivor Series, SummerSlam and  Royal Rumble. Over time though, the tournament lost a lot of its prestige.

The last time, King of the Ring was a PPV was all the way back in 2015 and the tournament itself was last held back in 2019, which was also the only edition after the 2015 event. However, it seems that it is still quite important to a number of wrestlers on the roster.

Baron Corbin was the last winner of the tournament. He was given a crown to commemerate his victory. The crown has since been stolen by Shinsuke Nakamura. Corbin spoke about this during his recent appearance on the Bump.

“I think everyone has had their eye on it, just like they do with a Championship title. They want an opportunity, a chance, and they want to earn it. That’s what the crown does to people. Then you have people who are cowards like Shinsuke who want to steal it. At least Xavier Woods wants to earn an opportunity to wear the crown. It’s important to him and his career.

“I’m happy to make it a disappointment and a regret in his long career, that he came up short in something he really wanted. A tournament is what’s necessary to wear the crown. If you want a shot, talk to somebody, cry to people, and get it set up. Xavier Woods, I would love to face him in the tournament. His dream will be cut short, but I’m happy to do it and defend it in the right circumstances.”

WWE Official, Adam Pearce then responded to this by writing:

“I know that I have had many conversations with @BaronCorbinWWE on this very topic. Stay tuned,”

Xavier Woods also got in, claiming that he would force Corbin to bend the knee.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
