WWE PAYBACK 2020 scheduled one week after SummerSlam

WWE PAYBACK 2020 scheduled one week after SummerSlam. The Biggest party of the summer is scheduled for August 23 and Payback is reportedly on 30th August.

The WWE have only confirmed 2 matches for SummerSlam so far; The WWE title match between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton and the RAW Tag Team title match between Street Profits and Andrade and Angel Garza. However, storylines for the other matches have already been set in motion.

Considering SummerSlam is scheduled for August 23 and its status as the 2nd biggest show in the promotion after Wrestlemania, one can expect extensive build ups for a proper blow off at the pay per view. The pay per view that follows after however, may not be afforded the same time for building storylines.

WWE PAYBACK 2020 scheduled one week after SummerSlam

Wrestlevotes are claiming that the WWE have added Payback to their schedule and will air the Sunday the after SummerSlam. This will give the company only one episode of RAW and SmackDown between the pay-per-views to build towards the card.

The tweet claims that Payback will be a PPV. However, it is important to note that Fightful reported earlier this month that the promotion was looking to put on a WWE Network special event on August 30. This would make a lot more sense than the WWE randomly adding a Pay per View on their rotation one week after their biggest show of the summer.

The WWE last hosted Payback back in 2017. Payback 2017 was infamous for the house of horrors match between Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt. While Randy, who was the WWE Champion back then, will be gunning for the WWE title once again at SummerSlam, it is all but confirmed that Wyatt will challenge Universal Champion Braun Strowman for the World Title in the SmackDown Brand.
