The WWE turned down a live sex celebration angle last year. The original storyline of the rejected angle has now come to light.
The introduction of the 24/7 championship was met with groans and boos. The knock off hardcore title had very few who cared about its existence until R-Truth came along and made it one of the most watched program in the company last year.

However, the program was taken to another level when Drake Maverick was thrown in the mix. Unlike the other competitors who chased R-Truth simply for the glory of the belt, Maverick had an ulterior motive. His wife refused to consummate their marriage unless he won the title.
Maverick had a motive that the audience could get behind and they were left in splits watching the pair play the game of cat and mouse for the title. In fact, he himself pitched several ideas for the storyline; one of which included him consummating his marriage with his wife ala Edge and Lita.

“The one I pitched was the live consummation celebration which was supposed to be a spoof on the Edge and Lita one, which was very PG but you could imagine Drake Maverick stripping off for his wife, trying to take his pants off and falling over, then getting back up like it didn’t happen,” Maverick told Metro.
“That sort of stuff, and then when he finally gets in the bed, and they’re getting closer together, closer together, closer together, R-Truth just peeps up. Then that’s when it’s fighting him in your underpants, he schoolboys you 1-2-3 and runs off.”
Maverick admitted having the most fun of his career during this storyline but expressed disappointment at the abrupt ending. He also explained why the storyline worked comparing it to the popular roadrunner and coyote from the Looney toons.
“One of the most fun runs I’ve had in the business. I was very upset that it ended with no explanation,” Maverick said. “I always thought that 24/7 Title worked when you had the Roadrunner and the Coyote, because as soon as the Coyote disappeared then it’s just Roadrunner running around and it’s not as entertaining. But we created that together.”
