WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg in the news these days for his desire to fight one last time. He recently revealed that he was promised a retirement match by Vince McMahon, but the WWE Executive Chairman has yet to come good on his word. Goldberg’s last match was against Roman Reigns more than a year ago in a losing cause at the Elimination Chamber.

According to him, he was set to receive a proper send-off following his feud with the Tribal Chief. With a call from WWE nowhere in sight, he has decided to take matters in his own hands. But is the WWE aware of the situation and if so, what is their reaction to it?

Reaction of WWE to Goldberg demanding a proper retirement match revealed

During a recent 93.7 The Ticket, Goldberg said:

“Vince McMahon and I had a handshake understanding that, you know, after the Roman Reigns match, I would have a proper retirement match. And, you know, that hasn’t come to fruition. And I certainly don’t go out, you know, under Roman Reigns, you know, three weeks after I’ve had Covid and agreed to a match.”

This statement came shortly after rumors that he may sign with AEW or even arrange a retirement tour for himself.

According to Ringside News, the WWE is well aware of this. However, they are not concerned by it. They were informed by a tenured member of the creative team that “there is no discussion about Goldberg at all” and “no one [in WWE] talks about Goldberg” in a creative sense.

It appears that Triple H and Vince McMahon are not too bothered by what Goldberg has said. In fact, they appear to be okay with whatever the Hall of Famer decides to do in the future.

Fans have long believed that Goldberg is well past his sell by date. However, with him desiring a proper send-off and AEW looking for a marquee star, this could very well work out for both of them.

AEW has enough talent that are more than capable of making Goldberg look good. This way they can build him up for that retirement match he’s looking for.  In return, they get a veteran with enough experience to put on a show for the fans and hopefully boost ratings for Tony Khan.

However, we will have to wait and see if this actually transpires.
