The Royal Rumble is the traditional year opener Pay Per View by the WWE. It is one of the big 4 Pay per views and sets up the storyline heading into Wrestlemania, WWE’s biggest show of the year. The event is generally headlined by the Royal Rumble match, which is a modified battle royal usually featuring 30 wrestlers.
The winner of these matches are offered the opportunity to wrestle for a World Championship match and headline Wrestlemania. There will be two Royal Rumbles, one each for the men and women wrestlers and the winners will get to wrestle either brand’s top championship at Wrestlemania 36.
