Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane could replace Mourinho as Manchester United boss, according to French outlet L’Equipe.

In May this year, Zinedine Zidane stepped down as the Real Madrid manager. This came as a huge surprise considering that he had just sealed a third successive UEFA Champions League title with the Whites. Almost three months since his resignation, he is still looking for a job. According to latest reports, he has a potential Manchester United role in sights.

Despite a 2-1 win over Leicester City on the Premier League’s opening day, the Red Devils boss is the favourite to lose his job during the course of the season. This is due to poor transfer activities and fractured relations with several parties directly concerned with the club.

Ahead of the Premier League’s official kick-off, the former Chelsea boss is the favourite to get the boot in a 5/1 odd. Interestingly, Claude Puel and Neil Warnock of Leicester and Cardiff respectively were place below the 55 year old in the list by Sky Bet. One man lined up for the job is Zinedine Zidane.

The 3 time Champions League winner as a boss in two and a half years at the top level, Zidane has been backed 4/1 by the odd makers. That probability is as per Betfair and Paddy Power, reported by the Oddschecker. Even French media channel L’Equipe has claimed that Zidane is keen on landing the Old Trafford job.

Apart from Real Madrid’s ex-manager, Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino is the second man in line with 11/2 odds in his favour. Carlo Ancelotti, right now with Napoli is also in contention and has 10/1 preference as per bookies. Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs, Antonio Conte, Luis Enrique and Brendan Rodgers are also linked with the job.

French outlet L’Equipe has also reported that Zinedine Zidane will be interested to take over as Manchester United manager if Jose Mourinho departs. The report claims that Zidane eyes a managerial stint in the Premier League and Manchester United is a club which stands out for him.

Jose Mourinho will take his Manchester United team to the Amex Stadium in their match against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League’s second match weekend. He will be hoping for three more points in a fixture where he will have most of his first team players back in the fray.
