Having finished at the top of the points table last year, Sunrisers Hyderabad would have been surely disappointed at not winning the title. Their dominant bowling line-up had failed to restrict Chennai Super Kings under 179 in the final at Mumbai.
With arguably the best bowling line-up in the IPL (Indian Premier League), Sunrisers wouldn’t be even considering to tinker with their bowling division. However, a few changes in the batting department might aid them in achieving the desired results in the next season of the IPL.
If reports are to be believed, the auction ahead of IPL 2019 will be held on December 16 for the first time in Goa. All the franchise will have the opportunity to make a few trading deals before November 15.
Below are three names which SRH would be wanting to release:
Wriddhiman Saha
In the 11 matches that Saha played in IPL 2018, he scored 122 runs at an average of 15.25 and a strike rate of 119.60. For someone who was bought for INR 5 crores, poor form along with frequent injuries made matters worse for Saha and SRH.
Saha is currently nursing an injury with less information regarding the time when he will regain full fitness. Releasing Saha will provide SRH with a considerable amount, which can help them in planning for his replacement and other necessary buys.
Alex Hales
In the six matches which Hales played for SRH in this season of the IPL, he scored 148 runs at an average of 24.66 and a strike rate of 125.42. With David Warner and Kane Williamson at the top of the order, one doesn’t expect many opportunities going coming his way next year.
If the IPL is scheduled to happen in South Africa next year, Sunrisers might as well go for a South African opener, someone who would be well-known with the prevailing conditions.
Carlos Brathwaite / Chris Jordan
Sunrisers Hyderabad might also be looking to release any one out of Carlos Brathwaite or Chris Jordan. While Brathwaite played four matches for Hyderabad in the last season, Jordan played only one.
While Brathwaite gives more surety with the bat, Jordan does the same with the bowl in hand. Given Hyderabad’s rich dearth of fast bowlers, one can assume that they might release Jordan. In that case, what they would also be expecting is for Brathwaite to stand tall with the ball in hand.
