IPL 2019 schedule announcement

IPL 2019 schedule announcement: It is reported that there has been a further delay in the schedule of IPL 2019.

The reports regarding the Board of Control for Cricket in India to announce the schedule for the 12th season of the Indian Premier League yesterday didn’t yield fruits as there was no development made on the part of the cricket board.

The fact that the fixtures haven’t been made public despite only less than 50 days remaining from the start of the tournament has started to make the fans curious about the same. Earlier, it was announced that the tournament will be played in India and will begin from March 23.

As per fresh reports in Mumbai Mirror, the reason behind the delay of the announcement was the continual interaction between the cricket board and the election commission.

“We’re working closely with the Election Commission and all the authorities concerned and hopefully it will be out in a week,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by The Mumbai Mirror.

Because the General Elections are to be conducted in the country during the same time period as the IPL, there have been issues regarding the dates for the government will not be able to provide adequate security when the elections will be going on.

If further reports are to be believed, the imminent season of the IPL might not give franchises seven home matches due to the same reason. Furthermore, once the fixtures are announced, they are viable to change depending on the date of the election.

It is due to the same reason that the tournament was initially planned to be conducted outside the country. The other two time when the elections were schedule to happen at the same time as the IPL, the tourney was moved to South Africa (2009) and UAE (2014). It is worth mentioning that a major part of the tournament was conducted in India in 2014.
