5 memorable moments for CSK from IPL 2018

These are the 5 moments for CSK from IPL 2018 which will be forever embedded in our memory.

This year was a season in which CSK gave its fans a bagful of memories. Chennai were back at their best after spending two years in wilderness. Right from the captaincy, to the batting order, to the bowling line up, all seemed to fall in place for them.

Although, their home games were shifted from Chennai, the team did not get disheartened. In their new home at Pune, CSK played as if they were playing at their home ground.

As it turned out, CSK won the Qualifier 1 against Sunrisers Hyderabad and stormed into the Finals. In the Final as well, CSK dint break a sweat to get the better of Sunrisers Hyderabad for the fourth time straight in the tournament.

However, en route their final win, they also created several memories. Here are 5 such memorable moments for CSK from IPL 2018:

Bravo and Jadhav team up in the opening match

A lot depended on the opening match of the tournament. CSK were up against MI, chasing a target of 170, CSK were looking well and truly out of the game at one point. Even MS Dhoni had been dismissed and it was MI’s match to lose from there.

But Bravo came out of nowhere to score 68 off 30 balls. However, he could not take it till the end. But Kedar Jadhav finished it off in the last over with a couple of boundaries.

Limping Dhoni’s valiant effort against KXIP

In the 12th match of the tournament, CSK were up against KXIP. Chasing a huge target of 197, CSK were nowhere in the reckoning till the last 3 overs when MS Dhoni – suffering from a back spasm –started to go hammer and tongs.

Although the team fell short by 4 runs, it was reaffirmed that Dhoni still had the magic touch. They also got the belief that they can come back into the match from any situation.

Watson’s classic hundred in the Final

Shane Watson proved to one of the most unexpected performers for the team. He was not expected to feature regularly in the playing XI to begin with. As it turned out, Watson not only became an essential part of the set up but also slammed two centuries.

On the big night as well, Watson shone through with a match winning hundred that single handedly sealed the match in CSK’s favour.

Chennai Express

After matches at CSK’s home ground in Chennai were shifted to Pune, the franchise arranged for a special train to take the fans to Pune.

“This is the least we can do for our fans, who stayed with us despite the team being out of action for two seasons. We expect to behold a sea of yellow at the Maharashtra Cricket Association’s International Stadium in Pune. We want at least 12,000 CSK supporters to be present in the stadium,” the CEO of CSK said.

Dhoni-Kohli camaraderie

For the first time CSK and RCB faced each other, there was a lot of hype around the match. Dhoni and Kohli were facing each other for the first time in IPL 2018 and it was about one-upmanship.

But the way the two met was almost as if it was a reunion of two brothers. That said volumes about the Indian team’s culture and set a tone for the rest of the IPL.
