Sarfaraz Ahmed yawning controversy: Pakistan captain hits out at fans after he faced criticism for yawning during Ind vs Pak World Cup match
Ever since Pakistan’s loss against India at The Old Trafford, Manchester their skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed has faced outright backlash and criticism from the so-called fans. They have not left any stones unturned to miss even the slightest of opportunities to mock at the wicket-keeper batsman post the 89-run loss on June 16.
He has unfortunately been abused and fat-shamed primarily because of the yawning controversy which occurred during the middle of the match in the first innings. People have been all over him perhaps because they consider ‘yawn’ as a sin, especially during a high-octane India vs Pakistan World Cup clash.
Just a day ago, he was, in what was a disgraceful act, compared to a pig by a so-called Pakistani fan. He even had his son in his hand at that point of time.
Sarfaraz hits out at fans
Perhaps, having had enough of the nonsense abuses and unnecessary destructive criticisms hurled at him post a loss in a Cricket match, Sarfaraz has now hit back at the fans.
Addressing a Press Conference ahead of his team’s match against South Africa at The Lord’s on Sunday, the 32-year-old expressed his views on the issue, asserting that a yawn is quite a natural occurrence, and that he did not commit a sin while doing it.
He further sarcastically added that, if people are making money out of it, he is happy for them.
“Yawning is a normal thing to do, I didn’t commit a sin. If people made money out of me yawning, that’s a good thing”, exclaimed Sarfaraz.

“We are no players for our people”- Sarfaraz
When asked for his comments on the heavy criticism he has been facing back home, Sarfaraz opined that he would rather not speak on the issue, else he will become subject to yet another criticism. The visibly angry Sarfaraz, exclaimed that people are behaving like Gods, sitting in front of their television sets.

He further requested the media persons and the general people on social media, to restrain themselves from circulating abusive videos of fans venting their frustrations, and that they too are disappointed with their dismal performance in the World Cup so far akin their fans back home.
