Andre Russell replacement: Who will replace Russell in 2019 Cricket World Cup?
Andre Russell replacement: Star West Indian all-rounder has been ruled out of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
In what has come as a big blow for the West Indies Cricket team, their star all-rounder Andre Russell has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
Russell, who had been struggling with his knee throughout the marquee tournament, finally calls it quit for the remaining league matches for his side, due to a heavily damaged left knee. The destructive all-rounder had not lived up to his expectations in the World Cup so far, as he could amass only 36 runs so far in the three innings that he played.
He managed to claim only five wickets in four matches at an average 20.20.
Sunil Ambris to join the side as his replacement
The Windies opening batsman- Sunil Ambris has been named as his replacement in the 15-member squad. The 26-year-old right hander was in brilliant form in the recently concluded multi-tournament ODI series featuring West Indies, Bangladesh and Ireland.
He scored a scintillating century (148 off 126 deliveries) against Ireland, and an unbeaten half-century (69* off 78) against Bangladesh during the aforementioned series.
He has only featured in 6 One-Dayers for the Windies, and has amassed 316 runs in five innings at a breathtaking average of 105.33. It is his recent run of good form that, perhaps has led to his inclusion in the side as Russell’s replacement.

West Indies placed 8th
The West Indies are presently reeling at the 8th position in the points table of the ongoing World Cup. They have lost 4 matches out of the 6 they have played so far, with one match being washed-off due to rain.
Another loss, and they will be out of the marquee tournament. They will face the likes of India, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan in their remaining league match fixtures. They will next face the formidable Indian side on June 27 at The Old Trafford in Manchester.
