2019 Club World Cup: Liverpool Club World Cup schedule confirmed

The schedule for the Club World Cup has been announced by the FIFA today. 

FIFA have confirmed Qatar would host the upcoming edition of the Club World Cup. The tournament will be held between December 11 and 21, while the winter strikes in the Middle East State.

The reigning Champions League winners received confirmation about this tournament after several doubts cast over the last few months. The Reds along with CF Monterrey, Al-Sadd and Hienghene Sport have confirmed their presence in this tournament, while three sides from different continents are yet to fill the unoccupied spots.

Due to this extra tournament, Liverpool’s away trip to West Ham United has been postponed. The clash against the Hammers was supposed to take place on December 21, but it is now anticipated to occur in March, with the date not yet being fixed. This trip could also cause a problem to Carabao Cup Quarterfinals, should the Reds make it to that round.

The only confirmed fixture is the first round clash between Al-Sadd and Heinghene Sport on December 11. The second round will take place between December 14 and 18, with African and Asian clubs entering the tournament.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will be straightaway walking into the Semifinal spot, which will take place on December 18th. The final and third-place game will take place on the final day of the tournament, (i.e) December 21.

When the six-time Champions League winners played Sao Paulo in 2005, horrendous refereeing decision lead to a 1-0 defeat. Jurgen Klopp is keen to put things back on track with a victory in this tournament.

Liverpool will take part in seven competitions – following the Champions League victory. They will have to compete for the Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, League Cup, FA Cup, and Community Shield.
