Liverpool unearth a loophole in the new ‘NO strikers in the wall’ rule in their opening match against Norwich City in the Premier League opener.

The Premier League is back. However, this time, it has come with a host of new rules. Unfortunately for them, Liverpool have already discovered a loophole in one of them as they cheekily found their way around the brand-new ruling.

This year the Premier League has introduced a new freekick rule. The rule states that no player from the opposing team can be in the defending team’s wall to distract or open a gap for their teammates to shoot through. The players now have to stand a meter away. So Liverpool went on to unearth  a loophole in the new ‘NO strikers in the wall’ rule.

A wall of Georginio Wijnaldum, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho made their own wall and made sure they stood a meter away from Norwich’s wall. This way they ensured that they obstructed The Canaries vision and broke no rules while doing so.

Well that rule about not having opposition players in the wall didn't take long to find a loophole in it. Well done Liverpool… #LIVNOR

Liverpool walk away tonight the winners. But they will be aware of the slip up in the second half. Norwich City looked like they were star struck in the first half. It seemed that they were on their way back to the Championship. However, by the end of the game, they have made a statement to the other teams that they are here to stay and will not go down without a fight.

An own goal from Grant Henson was the first goal of the season. It was then followed by 3 more goals. One each from Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Divock Origi. Liverpool also lost the service of keeper Alison through injury, who limped his way out of the ground. The Canaries then staged a comeback to make it a much more competitive second half.
