Bournemouth Vs Manchester City: Ederson’s challenege on Callum Wilson left fans think about VAR’s absence
Bournemouth Vs Manchester City: Ederson’s challenge on Callum Wilson left fans question about VAR’s absence from the game.
Manchester City and Bournemouth match have been physically intense and rough so far, despite it both the sides have managed to send the ball past the net.
On the other hand, VAR’s inclusion has been causing a storm in the Premier League, with every error, fans are not leaving any opportunity to criticize its implementation.
One such instance happened in this match when Ederson made a reckless challenge on Callum Wilson could have injured the striker and arguably was red card worthy too.
Many of the Bournemouth supporters did want a red card for the Manchester City goalkeeper, exploded in protest wanting a red card for the 26-year-old.
Ederson was charged with a yellow card but many thought it was not enough for the foul he made, which could have landed Wilson with an injury and also denied him a goal-scoring opportunity.
Since VAR can interfere with issues associated with red cards, many remained to wonder why VAR was not used at this moment as it looked like a move, which could have rightly sent Ederson to the dressing room.
However, nothing sort of that happened, VAR did not have any effect on this decision and Ederson stayed on the pitch for remaining minutes of the game. Fortunately, even Wilson did not get injure and kept playing ahead.
If Wilson had managed to escape Ederson’s challenge then Bournemouth could have landed an unlikely lead. However, Manchester City managed to come out of that potential disaster and went onto score two goals by the end of the first half.
Bournemouth, on the other hand, scored a sensational goal all because of a graceful free-kick by Harry Wilson before the whistle blew to end the first half.
How twitter reacted
I don't want to heart a single city fan complaining about #VAR after that by Ederson 😯#BOUMCI

typical big club bias. How is Ederson not getting sent off especially with VAR available. Makes a mockery of the game.
