Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany will miss his testimonial match because of a hamstring injury. The match was supposed to feature Man City legends against a Premier League all-star XI. Kompany will now have to witness the match from the sidelines.
Typical of Kompany
“Unfortunately, I won’t be starting tonight or playing. It’s typical of me, right? I’m usually just there for the end of the season,” Kompany told Sky Sports.
Kompany ruled out of his own testimonial due to injury: "I won’t be playing tonight, unfortunately. It is typical of me. Slight hamstring injury."

“I’ve got a slight hamstring injury. I couldn’t risk it tonight.
“We’ve got plenty of awesome players to be watching today and in many ways, it is about a celebration to say goodbye, it doesn’t need to be on the pitch as such.
“In the same way, we are doing it for an unbelievable cause. That takes priority.
“I’ll be there for David Silva and Kun Aguero’s testimonials.”
As unfortunate as the injury is, one can’t help but laugh at the familiarity of the situation. Kompany’s struggles to stay fit was one of the reasons why Man City decided to part ways with him according to Pep Guardiola’s own admission and it has come back to haunt him once again in England.
The match in essence is a charity match. The proceedings from the match will go to Tackle4MCR – the initiative Kompany set up with the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, to address rough sleeping and homelessness in the city.
