Adrian pulls spectacular one-hand save to deny Napoli’s Dries Mertens a goal
Adrian pulls spectacular one-hand save to deny Napoli player Dries Mertens a goal in the first round of the Champions League group stage match.
Adrian is in action for Liverpool ever since Alisson Becker picked up an injury in the first match of the Premier League this season. Since then, the Spanish goalkeeper has been phenomenal and took the responsibility well.
To make this claim even more concrete, Adrian made another spectacular save from his one hand against Napoli to deny Dries Mertens a goal against the Reds in the first round of the Champions League group stage.
It was the debut match for Adrian in the Champions League, yet the player looked good on the field with his display, and his impressive one-hand save from his tips to deny Dries Mertens’ goal-bound volley over the bar became the highlight.

Mertens thought the net was about to bulge but Adrian produced some breathtaking reflexes to keep it out. Alisson Becker made a stunning stop against Carlo Ancelotti’s side in the last minute of the final matchday group stage clash last term but he’s definitely been outdone by his deputy here.
Adrian came to Liverpool on a free transfer from West Ham, after he was released by the Hammers this summer, as his contract with them ended. Since then, due to Alisson’s injuries, Adrian has been fortunate to grab chances.
Meanwhile, even though Adrian had a great outing against Napoli but he still conceded goals to make his team lose against the Italian side by 2-0 on the first round of the Champions League group stage.
The first goal came after a goal by Mertens through a penalty in the 82nd minute of the game. Further, Fernando Llorente scored in the injury time to make the win comfortable for Napoli. Indeed, a rough start for the European champions.
