WATCH: Udeshika Prabodhani attempts to mankad Beth Mooney at North Sydney Oval
Udeshika Prabodhani attempts to mankad Beth Mooney: The Sri Lankan pacer almost had the Australian opener short of her crease.
During the first T20I of the ongoing Sri Lanka Women’s tour of Australia at the North Sydney Oval, Sri Lanka pacer Udeshika Prabhodhani had almost dismissed Australia batswoman Beth Mooney short of her crease via a mankading attempt.
It all happened in the 12th over of the Australian innings when Prabodhani didn’t bowl a delivery only to notify Mooney regarding her casually leaving her crease at the non-striker’s end.
Just as Prabodhani was about to throw the ball at the stumps, an alert Mooney made her way back into the crease. Given how well Australia were batting, wickets were the need of the hour for the visitors.

After Australia captain Meg Lanning won the toss and chose to bat, her decision was backed by their batsmen who posted 217/4 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Mooney, who opened the batting with Alyssa Healy (43), scored her second T20I century to power Australia to a match-winning total.
Before getting out in the penultimate over, Mooney scored 113 (61) with the help of 20 fours. Apart from the opening pair, Ashleigh Gardner also chipped in with an impressive 49 (27) with the help of a four and four sixes.
Leading from the front, Sri Lanka captain Chamari Atapattu scored her maiden T20I hundred in what was otherwise a disappointing batting effort from her team. Before getting out in the 18th over, Atapattu ended up scoring 113 (66) with the help of 12 fours and six sixes.
With bowling figures of 2-0-19-2, Georgia Wareham was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts.
