Rohit Sharma Test average in India: The Sports Rush present before you the Indian opening batsman’s home record in Tests.
During the first day of the first Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Visakhapatnam, India opening batsman Rohit Sharma made optimum use of his promotion up the order by scoring his fourth Test century in his first innings as Test opener.
Sharma, who replaced out-of-form Lokesh Rahul at the top of the order, continued his golden run in home Tests. Resuming his innings at 115*, Sharma looked in no trouble at all when he scored runs for fun against the South African attack.
It all happened on the first delivery of the 76th over when Sharma ran a single off debutant Senuran Muthusamy to reach the 150-run mark. Before getting out in the 82nd over, Sharma ended up scoring 176 (244) with the help of 23 fours and six sixes.
While Sharma looked set to register his maiden Test double hundred, it didn’t happen as South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj and wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock joined hands to end his innings. It is worth mentioning that Sharma missed a close chance of surpassing his highest Test score (177).
