WATCH: Pakistan journalist criticizes Sarfaraz Ahmed post Pakistan’s 3-0 series loss vs Sri Lanka
Pakistan journalist criticizes Sarfaraz Ahmed: The Pakistani captain isn’t having the best of times in the press conferences.
Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed seems to have become the punching bag for both the media and the fans of the nation. While there were several such incidents during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 earlier this year, things don’t appear to change post Pakistan’s 3-0 T20I series loss vs Sri Lanka at home.
Addressing the reporters in the post-series press conference in Lahore, both Ahmed and chief selector and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq underwent a tough time in front of the media.

Ahmed is currently representing Sindh in the ongoing National T20 Cup – Pakistan’s domestic T20 competition. Attending a press conference in Faisalabad, a journalist lashed out at Ahmed questioning him regarding who will come to watch his matches after his recent performances.
“You’ve disappointed the cricket fans so much that they’ve started cursing you. Who will come to see you play in the National T20 Cup [in Faisalabad],” the journalist was quoted as saying. While Ahmed didn’t answer the question, it is reported that the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) have banned the journalist.

Irrespective of his form, this was very unprofessional.

Standing tall on the reports regarding Ahmed deciding to not lead Sindh after being “upset” over the aforementioned question, Ahmed played as a wicket-keeper batsman under the leadership of Test batsman Asad Shafiq.
In the first T20 that he played, Ahmed scored 30 (18) in a winning effort against Central Punjab in a 189-run chase. His 36 (25) were not enough in the second match as Sindh failed to chase down a mammoth 234-run target against Balochistan.
Pakistan’s next international assignment will begin from November 3 when they will visit Australia for a three-match T20I and a two-Test series. The Test series will be Pakistan’s first in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship.
