Watch Raheem Sterling intentionally stamp Van Dijk, receive no card
Watch Raheem Sterling intentionally stamp Van Dijk, receive no card during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester City.
The Liverpool and Manchester City clash lived up to its hype. Don’t let the 3-1 scoreline deceive you, City were a far better side than the result suggests and posed a serious challenge to Jurgen Klopp’s and many would suggest that they dominated for longer periods than the Reds.

Regardless, the match is in the history books now and Liverpool will head into the international break with confidence knowing that they’ve set aside their title challengers. City on the other hand will consider themselves unfortunate.
However, no one would have had a worse day in the office than Raheem Sterling. Every time he touched the ball he was greeted with a chorus of boos. Liverpool fans clearly haven’t forgiven him for leaving in 2015 as they chanted ‘there’s only one greedy b**tard.’

As the match drew to a close it became very evident that the Anfield was starting to get the better of Sterling. With the match deep in extra-time, Sterling left Virgil Van Dijk with a challenge that left him fallen.
However, it seems that the raging Sterling may have intentionally stamped the centre back out of vexation hopefully without intending to hurt Van Dijk. Replays show Sterling’s studs coming down on Van Dijk’s standing foot casing the Dutch defender to fall.

Dirty shithousery by Sterling there. Put the boot in and deserved at least a yellow for it.

Sterling should have been given at least a yellow card for this.

Regardless of the intention, the stamp was made out of pure frustration and could have caused an injury. The English international should consider himself lucky to have walked away scot-free from a challenge that should have at least landed him a yellow card.
However, it says a lot about his time on the field last night when escaping punishment was the best thing to happen to him all night.
